The RE Store is hosting a series of free community skill sharing workshops this summer, thanks to support from Whatcom Community Foundation’s Project Neighborly grant and Whatcom County Health and Community Services. These workshops are designed to reduce waste by using salvaged materials, with local craftspeople sharing their skillsets to help you tackle projects with confidence, saving money and building resilience. But with limited space for in-person participants, we wanted to find a way to bring these great tutorials to more people. So, we’re launching a video series based on these workshops, intended for people of all skill levels everywhere! Along with new knowledge, we hope you’ll gain the confidence to take on more DIY projects by using RE Store tools and materials
First up: An Introduction to Woodworking with Heather DeVries
Learn introductory woodworking skills from Bellingham, WA-based professional woodworker Heather DeVries of Bettie Rockers and the Sunnyland Sawdust Collective. Heather will teach you how to use power tools properly and safely as you build a birdhouse out of salvaged lumber.
Keep an eye on our workshop page for for more classes (another woodworking and a tiling class coming soon!) and check back for more videos from the series!
