Retail Sales Staff

The Retail Sales position is key to the success of The RE Store. The role provides exceptional customer service to a large, diversified population. Individuals in this role thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, teamwork oriented atmosphere and are adept at handling a wide variety of unique inventory items, used building supplies and finished products. The major initiatives for 2019 will be:

  • Work collaboratively with all RE Store staff, work trainees, and volunteers to create innovative, effective and safe systems for products and materials to flow easily in and out of each department.
  • Participate in staff trainings and/or coaching opportunities to advance job performance and professional development.
  • Create and maintain attractive displays and arrangements of merchandise on a daily basis.

This RE Store Retail Sales Staff position is non-exempt, scheduled for 32 hours per week , with a starting wage of $14.00 per hour. Salvage Crew

The RE Store is currently seeking applicants for a position on our salvage crew. The salvage crew is responsible for our pick up service operations in Whatcom County and sometimes beyond, hauling a wide variety of building materials to be sold at our store.

As a licensed contractor, The RE Store salvage crew is also responsible for our contract operations, salvaging and deconstructing everything from cabinets and flooring to larger structures like decks and garages. This position involves customer service, working as a team, and advancing the mission of our organization. Salvage crew members serve as representatives of RE Sources and The RE Store while on the sales floor, at job sites, and inside private homes, businesses, and public institutions. The ideal candidate will have a clean driving record, experience using tools and driving light duty work trucks, and must be able to lift 70 lbs.

The Salvage Crew position is 32-40 hours per week with a starting wage of $14.00 per hour depending on experience. Seasonal Retail Sales Staff

The RE Store is seeking an energetic and motivated team member who enjoys customer service and thrives in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate has experience in merchandising, customer service, working with volunteers and some knowledge and experience of construction or other skilled trades. This position will primarily focus on receiving and processing incoming merchandise. The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Previous experience in customer service, retail sales, merchandising and displays.
  • Knowledge of the value and uses of a wide range of building materials.
  • Knowledge and experience with recycling, reuse and repurposing of previously used materials and more.

The Seasonal Retail Sales Staff position is 32 to 40 hours per week from June through September with a starting wage of $14.00 per hour.  Please know that this shift is scheduled for shift on both Saturday and Sunday, with flexibility on scheduling the other days per week. Read the job announcement to learn more.

We offer unpaid internships to current students and recent graduates interested in learning the inner workings of a non-profit organization.

Marketing & Communications Coordinator Internship

The RE Store seeks a motivated intern who will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of marketing and communication plans. The intern will gain experience in: the basic operations of a nonprofit organization; scheduling, project management, and time management; building useful relationships within the community; the use of advanced social media tools Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress Content Management systems, and topics related to digital photography, analytics, graphic design, website management, strategic planning, evaluation, budgeting and more. Through work experience and mentorship from intern supervisor, the intern will gain a well-rounded knowledge of marketing, communications, and event planning in support of the mission of a non-profit. This is a part-time, unpaid position for 10-15 hours per week on-site, two-quarter minimum. Intern reports to the Marketing and Outreach Manager. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Revision Division Design/Build Intern

The RE Store seeks a motivated intern who will be responsible for assisting Revision Division builders. Learning is broken up into three phases that will overlap during the school year. The intern will aid in the receiving, processing and organizing of donated salvaged materials to The RE Store, will assist the Revision Division builders with tasks that include but are not limited to: cutting, sanding, painting, gallery curation, product assemblage, order packing and shipping, and warehouse and inventory management, and will be challenged with drafting and building a product of their own design, from reclaimed materials. 10-15 hours per week, unpaid, must complete 4 quarters. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

Computer Science: Salvage Systems Intern

The RE Store seeks a motivated intern to be responsible for adapting an open source Google Script project, or developing a new Google Script, to enable a paperless pickup ticketing and tracking workflow for the Salvage program. The RE Store has defined project inputs and outputs for accepting Google Form submissions and creating calendar entries and email notifications. The intern will gain experience in product development, functional design, Google Forms, inside knowledge of the reuse industry, customer service, and building materials. 10-20 hours per week, unpaid, must complete 2 quarters.
