Come learn the essentials of working with ceramic tile and discover the ease of this often intimidating craft as you create a functional, durable piece with salvaged cabinet door fronts and leftover tile. The techniques you learn can be applied to kitchens, bathrooms, or anywhere else you want to tile! Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any special tiles or an item you’d like to tile (ex: a tray or trivet) with you!

About the instructor:
Susan Marshall is a local re-creator who loves mixing it up to create beautiful and useful items. A RE Store patron for nearly 40 years, her latest inspiration creates small tables, assembled with care using salvaged materials. Her other delights come from textile transformation; finding new purpose in discarded clothing. You can see her Marshall Arts creations at www.funksional.com.
In this class you will learn:
- Principles of design with ceramic tile
- How to lay out tile before installation
- Ways to fit and trim tile as needed with tile nipper tool
- Ratios and techniques for mixing grout
- How to use tile float and wipe down as sets up
Grout is messy and may stain, so please come dressed for mess! Gloves, tools and materials provided.
