The RE Store is partnering with Make.Shift Art Space to host the first annual MAKE ART NOT TRASH, an all-ages, all-skill-levels art show celebrating reclaimed materials, creative reuse, and weird DIY fun.
Where: Make.Shift Art Space, 306 Flora St. Bellingham, WA 98225
When: Saturday, September 12th from 1-5pm
Cost: FREE
Between 30% and 40% of landfill waste is made up of usable building materials and furniture. This community-focused DIY event challenges participants to think differently about what is trash and what can be repurposed into art.
Sculpture! Painting! Collage! Functional art! Wearable art! Even stranger stuff we haven’t thought of yet! Take something headed for the waste stream and turn it into something worth looking at. Or just come see what others have made, cast a vote, and maybe leave with a few ideas of your own!
Artists will be fully responsible for transporting their work to the event site at Make.Shift Art Space by 6pm on Thursday, September 10th, where they will be labeled with a name, artist name, description of materials, and weight.
Attendees at the event on Saturday, September 12th will receive a ballot card to vote for their favorite pieces and a chance to win prizes and eternal BELLINGHAM fame.
