2018’s Rockin’ for The RE Store

The Legendary Chucklenuts at Rockin' for The RE Store event

It’s that time of year again, and we’re preparing for Rockin’ for The RE Store, our annual benefit concert, raffle, and auction to support our Community Jobs Training program on Friday, May 18th from 5:00–10:00pm in Boundary Bay’s outdoor beer garden. The free, all-ages event includes live music from The Legendary Chucklenuts and High Mountain Stringband, a silent auction with incredible items donated by generous local businesses, and a raffle of big prizes totaling over $3,000! All proceeds from the evening go to support our efforts to combat joblessness in Whatcom County.

Raffle prizes include dinner and lodging for two at The Willows Inn on Lummi Island, a double date spa package from The Chrysalis Inn & Spa and Lovitt Restaurant, and a Taylor guitar and lesson package from Mojo Music Discount. Raffle tickets are $5 and can be purchased right here at The RE Store on Meridian and Broadway St until sold out.

“Our jobs training program strengthens Whatcom County by investing in those who need help the most,” said Kurt Gisclair, Director of The RE Store. “By giving displaced workers the skills and confidence to support themselves, we’re helping to increase local jobs and reduce unemployment.”

Community Jobs Training Program works with local agencies and nonprofits to provide low-income individuals with the skills necessary to gain long-term, meaningful employment. Through one-on-one coaching and a comprehensive curriculum, trainees learn on-the-job skills, build their resumes, improve their confidence in interviews, and receive skill-based certifications.

The Rockin’ event will support our goals of developing new trade and technical skill curricula, directly connecting trainees to potential employers, and offering a wider set of professional development skills.

“At The RE Store, we believe in community. We believe we are stronger, happier, and healthier when we support one another. But we know that a community can only be as healthy as its most vulnerable members.” Gisclair said. “That’s why we are committed to strengthening the community, by investing in those who need help the most. This fundraiser is all about supporting this program, so we can get displaced workers back into the workforce.”
