Thanks for Rockin’ with us

Thanks for Rockin' with us - The Legendary Chucklenuts at Rockin' for The RE Store 2018

The doors officially opened at 5pm, but a small crowd had gathered at 4:30pm. By the end of the night, we estimate that more than 800 people filtered their way through Boundary Bay’s outdoor beer garden. With the help of local bands High Mountain String Band and The Legendary Chucklenuts, the dance floor swayed, beer flowed, and laughter rang loud and clear. Rockin’ for The RE Store 2018 was a huge success, and we want to thank all of you for joining us.

The second annual Rockin’ for The RE Store was a benefit concert, raffle and auction to support our Community Jobs Training Program. Like last year, it was a huge success and we reached our goal. The money we raised will allow us to achieve our goals of offering job training opportunities to those in need in our efforts to reduce joblessness and homelessness in our community.

This year, with the help of generous community sponsors, we raffled off three amazing prize packages, gave away countless door prizes, and sold over 65 auction items to members of the community. The raffle prizes – dinner for two at The Willows Inn, a spa and dinner package from The Chrysalis Inn & Spa and Lovitt Restaurant, and a Taylor guitar and month of lessons from Mojo Music Discount– were a huge hit with the community. There were even rumors of people trying to buy each other’s $5 raffle tickets.

But Rockin’ is more than just a fundraiser for a cause we believe in. It’s also a way for us to thank our community for all of the support we get throughout the year. Each year we estimate that Whatcom County residents donate nearly 2,000 tons of useable building materials, effectively keeping those materials out of the landfill and in use. That’s nearly 30 homes worth of material! All of the money raised in the sale of building materials allows us to give back to the community in the form of job training opportunities, support for construction projects, and education. We do what we do because we believe a strong and resilient community is built from within. So when we say thank you doesn’t begin to cover it, we mean it.

Be sure to check out the photos from this year and send a hearty thanks to our sponsors! We look forward to seeing you at next year’s celebration.
